The Adventures of ScooterBob

ScooterBob ready for a road trip. (Photo credit David Masse The Scoot Commute blog)

The moto blogging community lost a very special person last month, BobSkoot.  It was quite a loss to the little tight-knit community of motobloggers.  We've followed each others blogs through our escapdes, adventures, trials, tribulations, glorious moments and everyday living.

Last year Bob rode coast to coast on his Beemer (Nu2Me), and was planning further bike adventures in the future. This year he and Mrs. Skoot were on a 4 wheel adventure travelling in his corvette and doing the things Bob did best, taking pictures and enjoying life. We in blog land were wondering where the Skoot family was and how they were making out on their adventure. Through a few posts on Scoot Commute our blog friend David found out the sad news, Bob passed away in his sleep. David relayed this sad news to the rest of  us, and we felt lost and bereft.

As a group of motobloggers we want to honour our friend and have been thinking of ways to do this and David of Scoot Commute struck on this lovely idea.  Bob had given David a little wooden vespa scooter and now it is going to travel the world and motobloggers are going to take pictures of it and see how far a field the little scooter can go, so far it is on a whirlwind tour with destinations in the US, Canada and Europe (take that hitchbot).  I know BobSkoot would've loved the adventure of all of this!

Might as well be comfy

It's a gorgeous warm fall day on the island.  We are out running errands and I decided to kick back & chill out in the shade while hubs is in Home Depot.  Hardware stores aren't my cup of tea.  I can't believe how comfy Scarlet is for Moto lounging :)

My grand scooter/motorcycle adventure with Bobskoot and the RTE Scooter Crew

As I reminisce, I sit here in disbelief and still can't get my head around his being gone. I remember this adventure with a smile and think how wonderful Bob was at bringing complete strangers together who shared the passion of riding scooters and motorcycles.  And contrary to popular belief the two groups of riders can blend and ride harmoniously together and have fun.

Here is the link to Bob's post on his blog after our riding weekend. A girl feels pretty special when she is surrounded by 20 men and them following behind her on her bike. Little did they know I am directionally impaired and was winging it all day long.   Yup it was a blessed day and as Bob said "I wish I could ride Saturday again, again and again.", I do too, you are gone too soon.

Bob is the man in the middle of all the scooter peeps.

Goodbye Bob my dear friend - Bobscoot of West Coast Scooting blog

Today my heart is heavy and sad.  I found out my friend passed away while on a trip of a lifetime.  I am sad and still in disbelief at his passing.  My condolences to His wife and family.  Your husband was a kind, gentle and generous soul and will be deeply missed by all who knew him and those who followed his intrepid adventures on his blog.  I will greatly miss his friendship.
This was May 2012 when Bob brought over the Ride To Eat Scooter Crew to ride the Island with me.  Oh what a fun time we had!
Bob was known for his signature pink crocs.  I will always think of him when I see pink crocs.

Farewell dear friend, you will be greatly missed and I know you are in heaven and getting everyone up there to wear pink crocs, and riding scooters or motorcycles.  xo miss you already.

**I found this link when I was remembering my ride with Bob & the RTE scooterists.  I remember this day fondly and as Bob said in his blog post "I want to ride Saturday, again, again, and again"

Sunsets galore!

I was recently on vacation in beautiful Tofino which is the end of the official terminus of the Trans-Canada Highway. So in essence it's the proverbial 'end of the road'.  Every year we venture forth to refresh, relax, and recharge or work weary souls.  I usually amble down to MacKenzie Beach at sunset and take in the spectacular show to end the day, here are some of my favourite pics from our recent trip.

The sky is spectacular!

Not bad for an iPhone!

Moonrise - it's teeny, but it's there.

I love Tofino! If you haven't been there you should venture to Vancouver Island and drive the lovely winding road in, the scenery is breathtaking!
