Goodbye sweet scooter love

Well it's time to say goodbye to Vixen!  She was my first two wheeled Moto love and gave me the courage, zest, determination to get my motorcycle license.  I sold her today in less than an hour of it being on Used Victoria.

I will miss her, but she deserves to be ridden and not sitting in a dark garage waiting and hoping to see the light of day and asphalt under her tires.

Vixy I hope your new owner treats you with kindness, gives you synthetic oil and treats you well on the road.  XO sweet scoot!

Beacon Hill Park

Today we had a little weather change, there was no fog!  It has been a very busy day for me today, I made the decision to go with 4 wheels for the winter instead of 2.  I had the opportunity to snag a parking space at work, it equalled out to the same amount I would have paid for a bus pass, I opted for convenience and comfort.

My nu2me cage, yup she is red!  She will be my 4 wheeled Scarlet.  No more packing rain gear, clothes, shoes, make-up and curling iron anymore!  I can actually go to work dressed-up and ready for the day.

After all the car stuff was sorted Pupzilla and I went for a stroll in Beacon Hill Park.  It is alive with the fiery colours of fall and even on a cloudy day it's beautiful!

As I stepped out of the car I heard the strains of a bagpipe floating through the air.  I am probably one of the few who actually like bagpipes, so I hunted the sound down.  It was very cute when I was sitting  listening this young lad walked up and was yelling above the pipe telling the gentleman to stop.  We had a good laugh.  Pupzilla wasn't too keen on it either.

All in all it was a pretty good day taking Pupzilla on a walk through the crunchy leaves.

Slogging in the fog

I am not a big fan of fog or winter for that matter.  Most of October had found us on the Island waking to fog and slogging through the day until bedtime if the grey sogginess of the day.

I am still commuting to work by bike, but I feel an unease in the fog.  Visibility is an issue and even with the hi viz traffic vest people don't see you until they are almost crawling up your tailpipe.

(I was out walking Pupzilla when I snapped this pic)

I also admit to finding the irresprissible never ending greyness a lit hard on the mindset.  I am a sunshine person and thrive in the light.  Some people find the fog mysterious and love it, not me.

Autumnal expressions

The seasons are rapidly changing here and we can not complain about our stellar summer we had.  It was gorgeous, hot, and deliciously sunny for the entire summer.  And yet I am having a hard time saying goodbye to summer.   It was wonderful when I ventured out on the bike and not being cold.

It's mid October now and it's dark when I get up and dark early.  I find this time of year extremely hard to deal with because honestly I get the winter blues.  Most mornings I wake to a soggy blanket of grey fog, which seems to make it colder. Despite the fog yesterday I pulled Scarlet out of the garage to take a run up island to meet my twin sister (yes she is the evil twin) and my parents for lunch.  It was a tough ride because it was a pea souper of a ride and I always worry about other motorists not seeing me until it's too late.  It finally cleared at the summit of the Malahat, I was going to stop & take a pic but I was running too far behind.

After reaching Duncan and lunching with the family it was time to make my way home.  Luckily the sun was out, but it was cold.  I was layered up, but definitely need a little warming jacket like Trobairitz and Bob have, going to start saving for that baby.

I decided to take the scenic route through Cowichan Bay.  I am so glad I did, it was stunning.

I loved the moss hanging off the beautiful trees.

Next stop was Hecate Park, where the boat launch is and a spectacular view of the Bay.
There are lovely housed perched on the shoreline.

A little wind blown & cold at this point and really looking forward to a hot bath.

There is a lovely little park area here and the trees were magnificently showing fall colours.

And finally my last shot of trying to be artful, look closely (not bad for an iPhone)

Awesome long weekend!

View from a look out on the Loop.

This weekend was Thanksgiving in Canada and it was perfection!  Crisp fall air, plenty of sunshine, food, and of course a Moto adventure.

We had an amazing ride with friends and we even spotted a ginormous black bear lazing on the sunshine beside the road.  Needless to say I wasn't anxious to play Goldilocks and check out whose porridge was too hot or too cold.

We rode about 250kms and it was glorious!

Look at those grins!  Yup a little bit of throttle therapy was just what we needed.

Then top off the weekend with some yummy turkey.  It was a little iffy because halfway through cooking, the element in my oven decided it was throwing off the cooking chains and stopped working.

Nescessity is the mother of invention!  I was able to continue cooking on the BBQ while my hub went to the hardware store to get a new element.  The turkey was too big for the BBQ so I had to wrap foil around it to keep the heat in.

Viola turkey dinner!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Zombie Apocalypse Victoria 2013

The zombies took over downtown Victoria today.  The snarling shuffling herd of the walking dead took over the downtown core and headed towards the Capital City Legidlature building.

Even the zombie patrol was overtaken by the sheer number of the shuffling snarling horde of the undead.

Apparently even lawn ornaments are not immune from the zombie virus.

The zombie hunters where outnumbered.

This is what happens on a sunny fall day in Victoria.  Zombie nation.

Evening walk pics

I decided to throw off the flu bug and take the dog for a walk.  We had an amazing beautifully sunny day today and it was still warm enough for a walk when I got home.

The West Song walkway has a lot of lovely little spots to sit and enjoy the scenery.  This little nook is on the Westbay Harbour in Esquimalt.

This is my version of a covered bridge, I always envy my fellow bloggers who live in the US where there are many beautiful covered bridges.  Unfortunately here in BC we don't have any, well none that I have come across anyway.

Well now that I have blown the flu bug away and sucked up some vitamin D I am going to find some cozy jammies and head off to slumber land.
